I'm looking into a trip to Barcelona from the Netherlands with my mom. She *really* doesn't like the idea of flying, so the train is the logical choice. But there is a difference:
- Train: 14 hour travel time with a return ticket price for €600 (and this is probably the best price given that it is the Interrail Pass).
- Plane: Maybe 5 hour travel time including driving to the airport and check in with a return ticket price for below €200.
I get why most people travel by plane to be honest.
And if we insist on a price incentive to make trains cheaper, I'm pretty certain liberals will interpret this to mean to quadruple the prices of flying.
Sigh, why can't we have nice things?
