Rich FelkerWhen you report, that goes to your own instance admins, and can be forwarded to the reported account's instance. Even if their instance won't act on it, your instance (or others you forward to) can take down the post or limit or block the account. If you're on a major instance, this can significantly limit the reach of the harm.
