These folks COULD stop killing us, stop brutalizing us, stop exploiting us, stop literally burning the world we live in, stop enslaving people, stop bombing people, they COULD just stop.

But they won't. And when you start taking steps to make them (which honestly not nearly enough people are doing right now) - they are going to get even more violent than they already are now; and they're pretty violent, all that oppression is maintained by force.
