That's not entirely true, but it's not entirely false, either. If your news is a loss-leader for a democratic society that addresses human flourishing and a habitable planet, then you can make that news free-as-in-speech *and* free-as-in-beer, and avoid all the suckitude that makes reading "real" news so fucking garbage.
