Charlie Stross@mpesce I set my blog up to publish static HTML pages and I optimized it ruthlessly for low bandwidth. (There are comment threads, but they only trigger database/cgi activity and a page update when somebody actually adds a comment, which is usually a 1-2 times an hour event rather than 1-2 times a second.)
