1) The Pogues wrote & recorded an iconic Christmas song in which the singer's highly vernacular lyrics compare her lover to a "cheap lousy [homophobic slur]."
2) The Pogues later realized that the slur was both hurtful & harmful, and recorded a new version of the song in which the singer remark is changed to "you're cheap and you're haggard."
3) The man whose portrait lives in the dictionary under "poo-faced," aka Laurence Fox, tweets a demand for the BBC to be defunded unless the slur-bearing version of the song hits the top of charts for Xmas 2020.
4) The authors of both versions of the song respond in the truest High Pogues fashion , by tweeting:
"Fuck off you little herrenvolk shite."
