Talked with an elderly woman who used to own a small family dairy farm in New York. I asked her how it was running an operation like that. She said: “Awful. It wore your body out.” She added that it’s good that the big industrial dairies have put the small dairies under. Surprised, I asked why.
She explained: “Because they use lots of undocumented immigrants. They can house them in mobile homes on the property, pay them very little and operate 24/7. We couldn’t do that.”
