Before yesterday, my only experience with Mexican food was chain restaurants serving 1) chicken or beef; 2) hard shell or soft shell; and 3) the same 5 toppings, combined over and over again into infinite permutations of inedible garbage.
That changed yesterday night. We went to a taqueria close to our house and had hand-smash potatoes along with tiny fish, shrimp and chicken tacos. Everything was small, but everything was delicious. I realized I'd never eaten Mexican until now, and I love it.
