Presented by the Bishop’s Commission on Climate Change
Worldwide, climate is changing at an unprecedented rate and that this crisis is primarily a result of human activity. Warming oceans, extreme weather events, shrinking ice sheets, sea level rise, and more: each new scientific study offers the very opposite of hope.
Science tells us it’s too late to avoid all of the impacts of climate change. Some are already here today. But science also tells us that it is not too late to avoid the most serious and dangerous impacts, and our choices will determine what happens. Our future is in our hands and we cannot afford to be paralyzed by fear. We must act, as the apostle Paul told Timothy, with power, love, and a sound mind, recognizing the true risks we face as a consequence of our collective decisions, as well as the true source of our ultimate hope.
