@kura inanna is ereshkigal's sister, they're both deities. however in sumerian the words for brother and sister are not just used for family members but also very close friends if they're not divided by hierarchy.
akkadians cared less about them, especially inanna (then called ishtar). i hate akkad but i won't get into that.
