The world is inert matter.
God created us in his image because we are a body carrying a lot of cells and bacteria and whatnot inside of us and we go around and feed the life within us and take care of it just like God does with the whole of life including ourselves.
Imagine all of a life being one body and you are just one cell of that body.
God cannot control the world because the world is not life.
Death is seen as the ultimate bad thing because it means being disconnected from God forever, however if you live a good life you will reproduce and have children meaning that you get to live forever, or at least your genes do.
If you are good you live forever meaning your genes keep reproducing, what is good? Good is that which enables you to reproduce and your offspring to continue doing the same.
If you are a bad you go to hell, hell is nothingness, complete separations from God, you die and are forgotten and your genes end with you.
Jesus was God instantiated in man, God is the whole of life, it cannot worry about the little part of it that is man and man’s societies and other minutia. But through Jesus God became man to show us the way because he recognized that men were going so astray through the use of their intelligence, that we were gonna end up destroying ourselves completely, so God had to come and give us an intervention.
Other species are not powerful enough to deviate from natural impulses to reproduce and survive, so they don’t need an intervention.
If a single human can have a consciousness and an intelligence through mere connection of cells (neurons) it’s not a far fetched idea to think that the entity that is the body of all life would also have its own intelligence and consciousness and would make decisions to survive and prosper, and would influence or order parts of itself to perform specific tasks or provide specific guidance.
We tell parts of our bodies to do things that benefit the whole of the body.
There is all kinds of studies about plants, groups of animals, fungi, etc, behaving collectively in a way that appears to be intelligent and planned, without that intelligence or planning being able to be attributed to any single individual or part of the whole, but rather as if the whole itself is a conscious intelligent entity making decisions.
