As an example, here is a comment about targeted slop content that wrongly associates it with enshittification.
The reason it's wrong is that Netflix is making money hand over fist producing slop content. It relies on manipulating human psychology. It has nothing really to do with "enshittification" (VC money needing to be paid back no matter what leading to a platform becoming less useful over time because the increased monetization is obnoxious.)
The closest I can associate it with that is that slop production can be adopted because of expectations of infinite growth of your platform. When your platform provides everybody with movies they want to see already, and you want them to see more, you make your own movies. But, they don't have to be slop movies, they could just compete with normal hollywood movies. They are making slop because it's tailored to the audience "people who want to 'watch' a movie while it is playing on a second screen they're barely paying attention to." it has to be bad by normal moviemaking standards because of the viewer they are targeting which is unfortunately a very real demographic. There is money to be made producing slop. It's the opposite of "enshittification"
