I think a lot of people are in the same or similar situation, and feel the same, I guess a form can only have so many fields, for the backend dataase, however there is no reason why a field can't be town/city, which would make a little more sense.
They just make assumptionsn based what ever data they have, as think everyone lives in a city, similar to the UK where a majority of people seem to live in London/South East, and when it comes to the South West anything south of Bristol does not exist or people there are not important enough to have events closer or they are able to commute.
All this collected data you would think they would be able to accommodate more varied needs.
