Controversial opinion but "professional settings" should not exclude the ability to give a good dressing down to an incompetent loon making your life worse and crushing your desire to give a shit about your work and workplace.

If you suck I will make it known. If I am not your manager and you are not my direct report, I am not bound by the concept of "praise publicly, admonish privately". I have no responsibility for your career and growth, I only have a responsibility to my manager, my projects, and the systems I am entrusted with. I hold myself to some pretty ridiculous standards and I don't expect people to reach those, but I do expect a modicum of cooperation and technical ability and the willingness to try.

Otherwise, shit on my lawn and expect to be thrown off the property.
