- Embed this notice@mangeurdenuage @phnt @phoronix The issue is that Linux drivers are arguably derivative works of other parts of Linux, a lot of which is GPLv2-only, which GPLv3-or-later is not compatible with.
The problem wouldn't even exist anyway if Linus and some other Linux developers didn't hate freedom and intentionally chose to license GPLv2-only to stop freedom as much as possible (ironically maliciously selectively enforced GPLv2-only is much more effective against freedom that any proprietary license, as there is no reasons against using free software under a free license, while anyone sane drops proprietary software like a Cobalt-60 rod).
