@nerthos @anemone @arcana @teratology staying in your shitty island village is a slow death sentence and working overseas is a huge risk full of unknowns but you see some people in your community do it and make more money than you ever made in your life, in a year. so you try it and you don;t get as lucky as them in employers and you get trapped. that is the situation they are in. it's desperation and I won;t blame them for trying and being taken advantage by someone who is only really motivated to enslave you by wanting a cheap nanny, while you are motivated by seeing your family suffer under crushing poverty
