In estrema sintesi, dire che Mastodon è complesso non vuol dire nulla. Instagram è pieno di regole e convenzioni, e la gente lo usa lo stesso, e si abitua quando cambiano. La verità è che moltə che si affacciano qui non trovano gente che conoscono, o qualcosa che sia di loro interesse, e quindi non hanno motivo di restare. What does it even mean?  Sure, the registration  is slightly less intuitive than other social media as you have to choose an instance, but if you follow the prompts and join mastodon.social, it's not that difficult or different from other social media. With the added bonus that you can always change instance later on, when you become more familiar with the platform, without losing followers. But my main point is, are other social media platform really THAT user friendly? Take Instagram. I have had an IG account for ages, though pretty much dormant.  Whenever I open it, it confuses the heck out of me. I can't repost. I can't add links to posts, only "link in bio". If I click on a profile, 9 times out of 10 I land on their latest story rather than view their profile page. The search function is rubbish. DMs are hidden. And yet, people use it. They eventually understand how it works, adopt "best practices", and adapt when things change. I don't think the user experience is much worse on Mastodon than on IG, from a tech point of view. It's just that most people don't find contents that they find interesting, and don't want to waste their time learning how to use a platform given that they don't like the crowd / vibes.</div><footer></footer></article></li></ol></footer></blockquote>
