@get I don't even think he has the authority to transfer the Videolan trademark anyway.

If someone was going to offer me $10 million for a trademark for some free software under say the AGPLv3-or-later, where I'm not the complete copyright holder, I wouldn't hesitate to hand over the trademark for that price, although I would note that the license is AGPLv3-or-later, noting that nothing in that license prevents you from including ads or whatever, just as long as you provide the source code as per the terms and then proceed to rebrand it.
