@TrevorGoodchild @DW2 I think it was the MIC plus the DEI that was the killing blow. Germans traditionally over-engineer and under-produce and it historically hasn't working out too bad for them.

But I think Musk has shown with SpaceX that you can still have American companies that make world-leading engineering tradeoffs.
