Such copies are unlicensed, with a patch applied to make the handcuffing program report a valid "license key" - although there is a chance that in the future microsoft will push an update to the handcuffing program out via the backdoor and then the antifeatures will activate (maybe in the future they'll make it refuse to operate at all).
