kravietz 🦇On 25 July 2024 Mike Pompeo, former secretary of state in Donald Trump’s government, published a ‘peace plan’ which can be summarised as follows:
- $500bn lend-lease programme for #Ukraine
- reconstruction of Ukraine financed by frozen Russian reserves
- non-recognition of #Russia’s occupation of Ukrainian territories
- the creation of a $100bn defence fund for Ukraine by #NATO countries, in which, however, the ‘European NATO members’ are to have the main share and the US only 20%.
The plan concludes: “if Russia submits to these conditions, sanctions will be gradually lifted from it, until the sanctions are fully lifted after Ukraine’s entry into NATO and the EU”
