@bot @teratology lol figures you'd know about fiduciary duty since you got a rich daddy-- but it's not just that. The whole way they're traded and owned is just degenerate. They made trading shares extremely easy, but mostly absolved owners from any real long-term responsibility for what their company does. They can just sell their shares when the all the externalized costs they've imposed on others over the years finally reach a threshold they're no longer tolerable, but the people who mainly profited from it are already long gone with their gains. The whole strucutre, along with the culture that surrounds it, is just degenerate. High finance really doesn't do all that much good for our society. We could find a much better way to organize resources.
