Weirdest thing to me is seein the "out of touch" argument.

Dude. Most of the ppl in power are very, very rich, very very powerful and spend their time at dinner parties with very, very rich and very, very powerful ppl who get out of bed every day and go "Ah, yes. I am considerably richer today, and possibly more powerful" and that goes extra for when it's in a very very rich and very very powerful country.

I don't know how to tell you this, but that bit is about as baked in as it gets.
