We are a selfish country. We tell this tale (myth really) of freedom etc etc. The reality is this nation was founded on selfish principles to have more power, more land, to get richer. All the while crushing the less fortunate and marginalized. From land grabs and genocide of indigenous people, to slavery, to exploitation of the working class, to persecution of immigrants, to denigration of the LGBTQ+ community. The list goes on and on.

Sure we fought in WWI and II etc, but for our own best interests let's be honest.

Last night we continued our trend of selfishness and lust for wealth over treating each other with respect and dignity and fairness and justice.

We elected a con man and a convicted felon and rapist as President for a second time because we believed (falsely) that he'd somehow make our economy and our bank accounts larger and increase our wealth - women's rights and freedoms be damned, human rights be damned, the environment be damned, Ukraine be damned, Palestine be damned, again the list goes on and on.

Until we, as a nation, become unselfish and more selfless we will never ever be a "great" nation.

We will just continue to be a greedy one.
