malapropism is a misuse of a word, term, or idiom that is often unintentionally comedic.
Shakespeare would highlight certain characters' stupidity by writing in malapropisms for their dialogue.

Infrared light is invisible to the human eye
(except under very specific conditions)
so this had the opposite effect of how she intended.
She sounds like someone who failed the bar on the first try when 81.4% passed that year.
