    I wrote an ill-tempered rant about people announcing Cool New Thing without including a relevant link, and then wondered if I'd gone too far, whether I was just being cranky.

    And then I immediately ran into 3 more examples of the exact thing I was complaining about.

    JFC, people. Include a link. It's not that hard.

      Also, don't link to Facebook or Instagram or Tiktok or your private members-only WhatsApp chat that people don’t have access to. Link to an actual webpage, the way God & Tim Berners-Lee intended. Link to the webpage that is RELEVANT to Cool New Thing, not your homepage or another random page on your site. If Cool New Thing doesn't have a page yet, put up a placeholder that says “Check back in X days for more info.” Have that page be the authoritative page for Cool New Thing in future. 2/
