"But... but... Vivaldi is not purely open source!"

Good software does not need to be open source.

Firefox is open source, but it includes spyware, adware, and AI, while being managed by an ad company. Brave Browser maybe open source, but it too includes spyware, adware, AI, plus cryptocurrency, while being managed by an ad company. Not to forget that their CEO is anti women's rights, anti LGBTQ+, a Trump supporter, and COVID-19 denier.

Open source does not guarantee that the development is good or the people behind that development has your or anyone's best interest in mind. It does not guarantee that it makes the world a better place either, for example, here are free virus programs on GitHub that are open source, but I would not want them anywhere on my system.

Vivaldi is the better browser, because they're not spying on their users, they're not bundling adware, or bundling AI, or incorporate cryptocurrency, and they're not owned by an ad company. Furthermore, if you monitor Vivaldi, unlike Firefox or Brave, the only time Vivaldi calls out is to 1) check for updates and 2) bug reports. Now, if that is too much, you should know both Firefox and Brave call out like a small lost child, wanting their mother.

I recommend Vivaldi, because they're not trying to harm anyone, and they're not calling home like a lost child in the wood. It includes its own ad-blocker, plus added support to ensure uBlock functionality.

Seriously, enable their ad-blocker, along with uBlock Origin Lite, plus Privacy Badger, and you got some pretty good ad blocking going on. As a bonus, I also use NextDNS (which is optional) and enable their ad blocking too. It is also how I was able to track just how much Firefox or Brave calls out (it's kind of creepy to watch them do that).
