it's dumb, but it works like this:

1. you propose date -> "I don't think he's that kind of guy I want because X"

2. "I'm busy this week. let's schedule some other time!" (don't apologize, don't explain too much, be as mysterious as possible) -> "wait, why did he stop? is it me? did he find another girl? WHY DID HE STOP? what is he doing that week?"

3. "hey, I have time this week" -> "okay now is my chance!!!"
