Driving highway 17 over to Santa Cruz today and we hit some traffic. Eventually we see there's a white delivery van with its hazard lights on in the right hand lane. I assumed it was broken down and stuck there. However shortly after I pass this vehicle I see in my rear view mirror the van suddenly accelerates and makes a left turn crossing both sides of the freeway. He stopped so he could make a left turn from the right hand lane. On the highway, where the speed limit is 50 MPH, across three lanes including two going the opposite direction. And he caused a huge backup affecting hundreds of other people.

This seems somehow emblematic of our time.
