Peter Tribble@12 @Orc I was never a fan of the SVR4 fetish of using /opt/foo /etc/opt/foo /var/opt/foo as "An approved installation location for add-on system software and applications." But you can see how you need to provide some sort of namespacing so that multiple vendors don't overwrite each other's junk.
