@lauralt I'd say it's not a "remorse" in moral sense per se, but shielding oneself behind what's considered a virtue in current societal climate as to not have your own ass handed by the very people you were antagonizing before. Similar mindset to how organized crime bosses donate their dirty money to churches and stuff.
