They host the Social Web Incubator Community Group and publish the documents that define the standard. We'll be meeting to discuss ActivityPub enhancements at TPAC, the W3C annual conference, this week. And w3c.social is one of the oldest instances on the fediverse, where dozens of w3c staff, member representatives and volunteers have their accounts. The W3C has our back.
