I think Imani Barbarin was (as always) on point when she discussed a rise in fascism frequently following a pandemic. The example she was discussing was ableism getting a relative turbocharge because of a spike in obsession over strength, bodies, fatness, and "health" that inevitably goes into eugenics.

I've also seen it in both macro and micro political contexts as well. Such as white liberals completely abandoning the lessons they claimed to learn in 2020 (calling ACAB "too radical", wholeheartedly lining up behind Biden or Kamala or whatever imperialist is pushing a police state) while the US government completely dismantles public health protections and supports that allowed many folks a little breathing room during the pandemic and declaring the pandemic over several years early to score political points.
