@lina @gray this comment got me wondering about the ethnic composition of overweight americans and, while i didn't find much of note on that particular issue (white americans are on the low end of overweight by bmi, black americans in the middle of overweight, asians are in the healthy range, etc), I did find this neat table describing differences in mass distribution in women of different races
