Don't get me wrong, this is about experiences.
Here's another comparison. In the tornado corridor in the US, people there know what to do when there's a tornado warning, and once a tornado touches down. They prepare for it, and they secure themselves.
Here in the Philippines, because tornadoes are rare―it used to be common centuries ago―people come out to film a tornado. Most, if not all, have no sense of preparedness and security. (And tornadoes here are not as big as those in the US.) we're not even talking about watersprouts, which are more common than regular tornadoes.
