It's weird to see videos of people being “business as usual” despite the onslaught of Super Typhoon Yagi in China and Northern VietNam.
I guess this brings to light how our experiences matter. For example, here in the Philippines, even if it is not a super typhoon, we take precautions and prepare.
If it is a a level before super typhoon, or a super typhoon itself, we secure everything and prepare for the worse. We pack food, we move stuff to the second floor, we secure outside plants, our roofs, windows, and so on.
AND, outside travel halts. If there's a need to go to work, we go to work a day before we start to feel the strong winds and stay there. Absolutely no one outside other than rescuers or if it really is needed (emergency rescue for example).
The reason for this is that the Philippines is in what is called the #TyphoonBelt. Getting hit by strong typhoons, even before Super Typhoons became a thing, is part of our existence. Thus, we know how dangerous it is and can be.
