Here, in France, I use cash for everything outside of buying things online (and I seldom buy online, probably less than once a month).

While people usually seem happy to get cash rather than payments by card/phone (they won’t have to pay the Mastercard/Visa "tax"), they are always surprised by it. Especially as I almost always give the exact sum, to the cent.
