38 million wild animals are trafficked per year in Brazil - The country accounts for 15% of the world's animal smuggling.
Animal trafficking is considered to be the 3rd biggest smuggling crime in the world, 2nd only to drug and arms trafficking. In Brazil the wild animals most sought after for smuggling are macaws, parrots, parakeets, birds, poisonous and colorful frogs and butterflies.
