Isreal is a stronghold in the middle east and has been much like a Constantinople for the past several hundred years.
It sits at the end of the Mediterranean next to the suez canal.
It's got direct access to all of the middle east and is a blatant strategic location in the center of earth.
The idea that American /NATO hegemony and the petrol dollar could exist without a security state in the location of isreal is simply retarded
