If you're interested in trying out #Linux, and you have very low level tech skills, then trying it out on an old PC desktop or laptop that you're not in any way dependent on is a low stress method.

Trying to replace #Windows with #Linux on your work computer when you've got very low level tech skills and you're trying to beat a deadline is too often not fun.

Keep your eyes out for a disposable computer. And then try running maybe #LinuxMint, #xfce version Live.
