HIM: 'Did you know your girl Elizabeth Warren was trying to close down clinics?'
ME: 'You're talking about the crisis centers that claim to help pregnant women, but really just track who is and isn't pregnant? Yeah, I think I read something about that. Those places are terrible."
HIM: "They help pregnant women. How is that bad?'
ME: 'They are funded by the church, so they lie about the effects of abortion on the body. They prey on women who are in a tough spot and put them in an even tougher spot by convincing them to have their babies.'
HIM: 'They can always put them up for adoption though, right?'
ME: 'Are YOU gonna adopt them? There's about 400,000 kids in foster care right now. Statistically those unwanted children are likely to end up committing crimes. Then the crime rate goes up and you'll complain it's because people aren't supporting the police or something.'
HIM: 'Hey, I'm just saying abortion isn't the only option.'
ME: 'So, you agree women should have options? Let me ask you this.. you're granddaughter is 14 years old. If something tragic happened and she was raped and ended up pregnant, should she have to go through the trauma of giving birth so young?'
HIM: 'Of course not.'
ME: 'So why is it okay to force it on other people's children?"
HIM: 'Yeah, but you're against the death penalty. You mean to tell me if your daughter were murdered you wouldn't want to see the person's life end?'
ME: 'Probably, but I'm rational enough to know I would be irrational if that happened. Doesn't change my stance, though'
HIM: 'Yeah, I guess... So, how did she enjoy her first day back to school?"
