@DeliaChristina There's an accusation often thrown at totalitarian governments (rightly so) that the folks at the top are ignorant and misinformed in dangerous (to their own interests! not just public's) ways due to being surrounded by ppl afraid to tell them the truth.

I think US has a lot of this too, especially on the matter of Israel and Palestine. They genuinely believe public disapproval is a foreign op not basic human decency, became that's what everyone in the system keeps insisting.
