翠星石 (suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com)'s status on Friday, 02-Aug-2024 18:17:54 JST翠星石 @lain There is no such thing as "the GPL".
There is the GPLv{1,2,3}, AGPLv{1,2,3} and LGPLv{1,2,2.1,3}.
That is not a license, rather is an poorly worded generic grant that is probably not legally valid (meaning the software is actually under proprietary "All Rights Reserved" terms), plus if you use it on software, you've granted a warranty also.
A license that defends freedom like the GPLv3-or-later or the AGPLv3-or-later shall never be perverted by a so called "replacement" that is rather pushover terms that ensures companies can and will turn the software proprietary.
