Does anybody know of a way to link to a post I want to highlight •without• clients showing media attached to that post?

To be clear, I want to do this:

    [My post] –link→ [their post] –attachment→ [their media]

…but what my followers see in their timeline is this:

    [My post] –link→

…or this:

    [My post] –link→ [their post]

…but NOT [their media]. Is there a reliable way? I suspect this is too client-dependent to be possible, but thought I’d ask.
