Him: 'Immigration is gonna be the issue that wins or loses this election. Watch.'
Me: 'I don't have any problem with immigrants. Our country was built by immigrants.'
Him: 'Yeah, but they need to come here legally. Do it the RIGHT way'
Me: 'Seeking asylum is legal by the standards of both national and international law.'
Him: 'Yeah, but they're not waiting for their court dates. They just move in before their court dates.'
Me: 'Right, well getting a court date can take four to eight years, in some cases.'
Him: 'Right, that's too long.
Me: 'Right. So we agree it should be easier to come here legally.
Him: '....'
Me: '..and we need immigration reform that makes it easier to come here legally and gives asylum seekers a legal path to citizenship.'
Him: '...I guess so.'
Me: 'So, you're voting for Kamala Harris?'
Him: 'Not a chance in hell.'
