what’s something that when you got to it, it felt like you were arriving really late, but in retrospect you were actually quite early to?

like i remember getting into magic: the gathering around sixth edition (so like late 90s) and feeling like there was already an impossible amount of lore to it, i’d never catch up… i had no fuckin clue.
