I've been listening to Helen Macdonald read their beautiful book of essays Vesper Flights. As our glorious leaders have shown the only change they intend to make to the asylum system can at best be described as semantic, I'm sharing this chapter again.
"You were one of the best epidemiology students in the country. You are now an asylum seeker. None of us want to know what it is like ... not to eat or drink or sleep for five days and nights."
