We need a variant of the GPL license grant that prevents commercial entities from directly receiving the software from its authors.

Only individuals and perhaps non-commercial organisations should be able to receive the work from the author under the GPL.

And corporations must pay a subscription fee, or figure out an individual or non-commercial org to receive their copy from.

Essentially this preserves all the freedoms but provides the incentives for companies to not complain to the authors.
