@branman65 @LukeAlmighty In the past century, when you were allowed to joke about marriage, it was almost always to ridicule one's own marriage, the marriage of another person, or some hypothetical marriage. There usually would be some variation of "I'm glad my spouse is dying [or dead]" bit for the really edgy.

Now, it doesn't generally seem like people joke about that anymore, even in the negative, like the very concept is anathema.
