I was listening to a piece on NPR about all of the elections happening around the globe - the gist of the story was that incumbents are in jeopardy all over the globe and this is not good for democracy because it often leads to inexperienced, populists with authoritarian tendencies to take power (and fuck things up).
It got me to thinking - why do we focus our angst so much at the politicians, when actually, it's the ultra rich (the global oligarchs if you will) that we really should be the most pissed at. Is it because they've become "untouchable" whereas politicians can be voted out?
That's my theory.
Make it make sense and oh yeah, "Eat the Rich!"
